Alliance for NanoHealth Workshop

February 23 – Houston, Tx

TNI is joining with the Alliance for NanoHealth, a federally funded collaborative research endeavor comprised of six of the leading institutions in and around the Texas Medical Center in a day long workshop which will define the state of current research directions. Baylor College of Medicine, M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, Rice University, University of Houston, University of Texas Health Sciences Center, and University of Texas Medical Branch are combining their strengths and skills across a variety of disciplines to more rapidly and effectively find answers to problems and implementations of solutions that occur at the nanoscale.

The morning session will focus on NASA and issues of space medicine, with participation by NSF and NIH. The afternoon panels will address three broad subject areas: Bioanalytics, Nanotechnology, and Bioinformatics. The panels will consist of representatives of the Alliance members to discuss their areas of concentration and a representative of the Venture Capital community to lend perspective on the nature of investments in these areas. This will be an information rich opportunity for academics, health industry executives, and all interested parties to get a first hand look at the direction of research and commercialization of nanohealth technology.

US Representative John Culberson is expected to attend and speak concerning the federal governments funding of and expectations for nanohealth research.
