Rob Miles, Ph.D.

Rob’s experience and talents include commercializing intellectual property and building firms from the concept stage through research, product development, launch and expansion into new markets. Rob is currently a general partner with the Maple Fund, a venture firm that invests in early stage nanotechnology and enabling technology for healthcare, materials, and manufacturing. Previously he was a partner with Koch Ventures and his primary focus is in the areas of materials, nanotechnology, energy, and semiconductor technologies. At Koch he led investments in firms such as Textronics, a Dupont spinout for electronic textiles. He is also a founding Board Member of the Texas Nanotechnology Initiative. Rob was also a former general partner with Vortex Partners and EIR and venture partner with Sevin Rosen Funds, where he was the primary or secondary lead on companies such as Digital Furnace (acquired by Broadcom), Glow Networks (acquired by Axes Technologies), Siliconwave, SiteStuff, Chipdata, Clarendon, Lightpointe and others.

Before Sevin Rosen, Rob was with McKinsey & Company where he focused on product/market strategy and process reengineering for high tech firms for four years. Rob has a PhD in Applied Physics from Caltech and a BS in Physics from the US Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. He has held interim CXO positions in several of the early stage companies he has funded. Rob is currently CEO of 10Charge, Inc, a company focused on proprietary ultra-fast battery charging and monitoring technology.
