Monty Humble
Vinson & Elkins, L.L.P.

Monty Humble, an attorney with Vinson & Elkins since 1982, has a practice that is focused on public debt offerings and other business transactions, particularly those related to healthcare, technology & biotechnology and the electric energy industries. In 1986, Monty established the Vinson & Elkins Dallas office public finance practice; a practice that now consists of clients in eight states from Texas to Washington, and has grown to include such prominent clients as the City of Dallas, Collin County and Dallas County, DFW Airport, Texas Stadium, the Ballpark in Arlington, Southern Methodist University, Texas Health Resources, and Dallas Area Rapid Transit.

Humble currently serves on the board of directors of the National Association of Bond Lawyers as well as Texas Nanotechnology Initiative and the Texas General Counsel Forum. Membership and service has also included: Board of Directors, Lone Star Chapter HFMA; Steering Committee, NABL's Bond Attorney Workshop; Steering Committee, UT Law School Health Law Conference; American Bar Association; American Academy of Healthcare Attorneys; Fellow of the Dallas Bar Foundation.

He has had the honor of speaking at numerous conferences and forums, including the ABA Law Forum, AGPMA, HFMA, NFMA, GFOA and the AAHA on subjects raging from legal issues in the development of integrated healthcare delivery systems to tax-exempt financing in the healthcare industry. He also served as a panelist on secondary market disclosure at the SEC’s Municipal Market Roundtable and the MSRB’s Annual Conference on Disclosure.

He has authored "Health Law, Corporate Law, Nonprofit Corporations – Duties, Responsibilities and Liability of Directors of Nonprofit Healthcare Institutions" and "Challenges for Boards: A Series on Key Issues," "The Governance One Hundred," "Public Finance Securities – Joint Recommendations for Communicating with the Beneficial Owners of Defaulted Municipal Securities"and others.

Humble graduated from the University of Texas with honors in 1974 and the University of Texas School of Law with honors in 1976.
